Rénoclimat energy assessments in Gatineau and the Outaouais
Since October 1, 2026, the Rénoclimat program has allowed homeowners to choose their assessment provider. Services ecoPlus, an authorized EnerGuide service organization, now offers Rénoclimat energy assessments throughout the Outaouais.
What changed on October 1, 2026
- A pre-retrofit assessment is no longer mandatory, but it is recommended to help you choose the right improvements.
- Financial assistance of up to $500 is available for the assessment, provided you also apply for assistance for at least one eligible energy-efficiency measure.
- The post-retrofit assessment has been removed from the program.
- Work must be carried out by a contractor holding the appropriate RBQ licence, who completes a declaration of compliance form.
- Higher assistance amounts are available for wall, roof and foundation insulation, as well as windows certified as ENERGY STAR Most Efficient.
- Doors (except eligible sliding glass patio doors treated as windows), air sealing, heat recovery ventilators (HRVs), energy recovery ventilators (ERVs) and drain-water heat recovery systems are no longer subsidized.
- Applications will be submitted through an online government portal, which is not yet open. Keep your invoices and supporting documents.

Our assessment, ready for Rénoclimat
An EnerGuide report alone does not make your renovations eligible for assistance: you must meet Rénoclimat requirements for insulation levels and eligible products. Our assessment explains exactly what improvements to make.

Pricing
- A house in the greater Gatineau area: $495 plus taxes
- Elsewhere in the Outaouais: travel fees may apply and are confirmed before the visit
- Duplexes, triplexes and buildings with four or more units: quoted individually
If you complete at least one eligible measure and submit your application, Rénoclimat assistance may cover the assessment cost before taxes, up to a maximum of $500. Assistance is paid by the government after it reviews your application, subject to available funding.

Frequently asked questions
Is the assessment mandatory?
No. It is optional, but it helps you choose improvements that qualify for assistance and avoid costly mistakes.
Can the assessment be reimbursed?
Assistance may reach $500, but only if you also apply for assistance for at least one eligible energy-efficiency measure.
Can I do the work myself?
No. To qualify, the work must be carried out by a contractor holding the appropriate RBQ licence.
Are my doors, caulking or HRV still subsidized?
No. These measures are no longer eligible under the new rules effective October 1, 2026. Exception: sliding glass patio doors may qualify as windows if they are certified as ENERGY STAR Most Efficient and meet the program criteria.
I started my application before October 1, 2026. What happens next?
A transition period allows you to complete your application under the previous rules. You can also start under the previous rules by requesting a pre-retrofit assessment by October 12, 2026. The post-retrofit assessment must be completed no later than March 31, 2027, by the organization mandated for your region. See quebec.ca/renoclimat.
Can I combine Rénoclimat with other financial assistance?
Rénoclimat does not allow assistance to be combined with other assistance from the Quebec and Canadian governments, including tax credits, or from municipalities. Check your situation with the program before signing an agreement.
Is the portal open?
Not yet. The government plans to open it this fall. You can already carry out eligible work under the new rules, which apply to work completed since October 1, 2026. Keep all supporting documents.
